Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior commented on the match after a 3-1 away win against Crystal Palace in the 23rd round of the EPL. The specialist didn't hide his satisfaction with the result, but conceding a goal in the final minutes somewhat spoiled his mood.
Rosenior noted that playing at this stadium is not always easy. He called Crystal Palace a disciplined and tough opponent and emphasized that his team acted "professionally" away. It was also mentioned that Chelsea had a chance to finish the match clean with a 3-0 lead.
- I liked the game. It's always difficult to play here, Crystal Palace is a good team. But it hurt that we couldn't keep our goal intact in the last 10 minutes. We will work on this. "I wanted to finish three games in a row, and we were capable of it," the coach commented.
There's another important point in his words: when the opponent is reduced by one player, if you want to be a strong team, you need to play at the same high level throughout the entire 90 minutes. That is, there is no such thing as "the opponent is 10 people - now it's all over": in fact, even at such a moment, full control and intensity should be maintained.
At the same time, Rosenior didn't want to cling too much to negative aspects. In his opinion, there were many positive aspects: the team used pressing correctly, started the defense from the attack line, and overall organization was noticeable.
The manager was particularly pleased with the reaction when the ball was lost: "Chelsea" quickly switched to counter-pressing, reducing the opponent's ability to freely build an attack. When the opponent started the attack, the attackers turned back and tried to take the ball, which was considered "collective work."
Rosenior told the truth at one point: when playing with the ball, especially in the first half, one could move more thoroughly. However, in terms of overall teamplay, discipline, and tactical execution, he praised the match very highly.
The conclusion is simple: Chelsea has a win, a system, and proper pressure management. Now the next step is to take away the "dry game" along with 3 points. Because sometimes even a single conceded goal comes at a very high price for big goals.
