In the 3rd round of Group A of the Turkish Cup, Istanbul Bashakshehir defeated Fatih Karagyumryuk 4-1 away. The result of the match not only increased the team's chances in the group, but also once again showed that "Bashakshehir" has big goals in this competition.
After the match, the team's head coach, Nuri Shahin, commented on the game at a press conference and did not hide his satisfaction with the players' performance.
"We controlled the game from start to finish and created a lot of scoring opportunities. We barely gave the opponent a chance. We could have scored more goals for goal difference. I congratulate my players. In the cup, we will play an equal match against Trabzonspor. We want to win that game and advance to the next stage," the specialist said.
One thing is clear from Nuri Shahin's words: "Bashakshehir" didn't come to this tournament just to participate. When asked at the press conference, "Do you consider the final or the championship as the goal in the Turkish Cup this season?" the answer was very definitive:
"Of course. This is our clear goal. In this system, it is not easy to leave the group. We didn't have much advantage in terms of the calendar either. We are playing against two teams from the top three of the championship. But this is not an excuse. God willing, we want to defeat Trabzonspor and advance to the next stage. If we advance to the next stage, we will join the top 8 teams. Our main goal there is to play in the final and win the cup."
Indeed, in the group system, every point is worth gold. And every mistake is a reason to leave. Therefore, it's clear that Shahin isn't making excuses about the "difficult calendar" and is demanding maximum results from his team.
The coach also spoke warmly about Croatian left-back Ivan Brnich, who scored a goal in the match and attracted the attention of many with his performance:
"Ivan Brnich is a very important player for us. Whenever it appears, it brings profit. I am very pleased with his name. We began to understand each other better. Previously, they had problems with movement without the ball, but now I think we understand each other very well," said Nuri Shahin.
Interestingly, this match was even sweeter for Uzbek fans. Our compatriots Eldor Shomurodov and Abbosbek Fayzullayev also scored goals in the match. That is, it was evident that "Bashakshehir" had a high mood on the field, not only in terms of team dominance, but also individually.
Now, the most important challenge lies ahead - the match against Trabzonspor. Nuri Shahin called it a "final-match game." So, this conflict will be a real test of character, which will decide the fate of the group. "Bashakshehir" is clearly saying: the goal is the final, the goal is the cup.
