An extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee of the Futsal Federation of Uzbekistan took place today. Participation in the 2026 AFC Futsal Cup was considered seriously and critically: it was openly stated that the result was not at the expected level.
At the meeting, the president of the federation, Bekzod Mamatkulov, emphasized the issue of preparation. He emphasized that opportunities for thorough preparation for the competition were fully created: regular training camps were held according to plan, strong sparring opponents were found for the team, and the team's preparation was tested "on the field, not on paper" through games of various formats.
But the main point at the training camp was this: during the competition in Indonesia, the futsal players were sharply criticized for not fully demonstrating the expected enthusiasm. It was noted that decisive aspects such as a thirst for struggle, going "to the end" for each ball, and a strong desire for victory were not sufficiently felt in the team. As a result, although the national team struggled to advance from the group to the playoffs, it failed to fulfill its task in the quarter-finals.
Then came the part of the decisions - and it wasn't "soft." The resignation of the head coach of the national team, Nodir Eliboev, in connection with his transfer to another job, was taken into consideration. Also, a decision was made to dismiss the coaching staff of the national futsal team of Uzbekistan with its full composition.
The Executive Committee of the Federation expressed gratitude to the headquarters for the work done over the past period and wished them success in their further activities. Now, the most important news that will interest fans is that the new coaching staff will be presented to the public in the coming days.
In short, this decision is not "just a change" - it's a reboot of the team's spirit, discipline, and result requirements. Now every minute on the field is an answer to the question: "Is there passion, is there struggle, is there character?"
