Unexpected coaching change in the Morocco national team

With only a few months left until the World Cup, a major change has occurred in Moroccan football. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has accepted the resignation of head coach Walid Regragui. Under his leadership, the team reached the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup and participated in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.
Mohamed Ouahbi has been appointed as the new head coach. The 49-year-old specialist has previously worked effectively with Morocco's youth teams. Notably, his U-20 team became world champions in 2025. Ouahbi is considered one of the experienced coaches who has been managing the country's U-20 and U-23 teams since 2022.
In the upcoming 2026 World Cup, the Morocco national team is in the same group as strong opponents such as Brazil, Haiti, and Scotland. The main task for the new coach is to prepare the team for the tournament in a short time and successfully pass the group stage.
