Liverpool secured a convincing 3-1 away victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup Round of 16. Arne Slot's side thus recovered from an unexpected defeat in the Premier League three days ago and officially secured their place in the next round of the cup - the quarter-finals.
The match at Moliniou was more cautious in the first half. Both teams tried to minimize the error without taking a big risk. But with the start of the second half, Liverpool "exploded" the game with speed and precision.
Andrew Robertson opened the scoring in the 51st minute. Two minutes later, in the 53rd minute, Mohamed Salah scored his own goal, further strengthening the Reds' dominance - 0:2. After these episodes, it became much harder for Wolverhampton to return to the game: Liverpool took control of both the ball and the tempo.
In the 74th minute, Curtis Jones scored the team's third goal, almost putting an end to the intrigue. The hosts only responded with Hwang's goal in added time, in the 90+1st minute. However, this goal didn't affect the result - Liverpool finished the game with a 1-3 victory.
This result is also psychologically important for Liverpool: the Slot team quickly regained confidence after an unexpected defeat in the EPL, sending a signal in the cup that "I'm still here."
