Shomurodov: "We were only against bringing in a new head coach"

Eldor Shomurodov, a striker for the Turkish club "Istanbul Bashakshehir" and the Uzbekistan national team, spoke about the changes in the national team, in particular, about Temur Kapadze's coaching career, in a lengthy interview with the Kun.uz YouTube channel. According to Eldor, Kapadze started working immediately after his arrival, without long "waiting," and the team took it as normal.
"Timur Kapadze quickly got to work after joining the team. Everyone supported him," said the striker.
Recently, there have been rumors that "team leaders didn't want Capadze." Shomurodov clearly reacted to these rumors and called these opinions incorrect.
He emphasized that the issue lay not with Kapadze's personality, but with the risk of bringing in a "completely new coach" mid-season. Because a new coach means a new idea, a new scheme, new requirements. This could be like starting the finished process from scratch and ultimately have a negative impact.
"It's wrong to say that the leaders didn't want Capadze. We were only against bringing in a new coach. Someone said that there was resistance to Kapadze's arrival. We knew that with the arrival of a new coach, many things would change. A new idea, a new tactic - everything started from the beginning. And this could have had a negative impact in the end," said Eldor.
Shomurodov also noted that at that time, Katanec was asked to "stay with us until the end." According to his logic, there was time until the World Cup, after which a planned decision could be made.
But later, the team rejoiced at Kapadze's arrival. The reason is that he knows the internal atmosphere of the national team, knows the players well, and most importantly, he continued working without disrupting the system. It was noted that this aspect gave the team stability.
"Later, we were glad that Temur Kapadze came. The reason is that he was part of the national team, knew the players well, and continued working without disrupting the system. We were also pleased with this situation. We were only against bringing in a new coach, because it was a big risk," Shomurodov concluded.
In short, with these words, Eldar clarified one thing: the rumors that "he didn't want Kapadze" were exaggerated. The main concern at that time was a big risk - the possibility of a radical change in the team's established system.
