UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria expressed sharp opinions about upcoming fights and his opponents. According to him, he was initially scheduled to face Islam Makhachev at a tournament held at the "White House". However, the champion claims that Makhachev used an injury as an excuse to refuse the fight.
Topuria did not hide his dissatisfaction with the situation and openly accused his opponent. According to him, when the fight organizers first proposed Makhachev's name, he agreed without hesitation. However, the news of Islam's injury the next day changed all plans. As a result, he was offered to fight Justin Gaethje instead.
Ilia Topuria also addressed his new opponent, Justin Gaethje, promising to knock him out soon. The athlete added that because of Islam Makhachev's escape, it is Gaethje who has to pay the price. Let us remind you that this fight is scheduled for June 14, 2025.
