Officially: Laporta re-elected as president of the Catalan club

Based on the results of a confident and publicly visible election, Joan Laporta was re-elected as the head of Barcelona. His main rival, the famous businessman Victor Font, fell significantly behind in terms of votes.

After the ballots were counted at 100%, Laporta received 32,934 out of 48,480 votes, which was 68.18% of the total number of votes. Font remained in second place with 14,385 votes (29.78%). At the same time, 984 people (2.04%) did not choose any of the candidates.

Thus, Laporta received the right to manage the club for the next five years - until 2031. For the 63-year-old functionary, this is his third managerial period at Barcelona: he previously managed the club in 2003-2010 and 2021-2026.

Interestingly, officially its new term can also be considered the fourth. In 2006, based on a lawsuit filed by one of the club members, the court ruled that Laporta's first period, which began in 2003, had ended. Then, although new elections were scheduled, they were not held - only Laporta gathered the votes necessary for registration. Thus began his second leadership period, which ended in 2010.

Fans are pleased with the news and look forward to the club's new five-year plans. Under Laporta's leadership, Barcelona is striving for new championships and is expected to once again successfully pursue their European and Spanish careers.
