"Liverpool" head coach Arne Slot said his team will face one of the toughest possible challenges in the Champions League quarterfinals after sealing a commanding 4-0 win over "Galatasaray" and progressing 4-1 on aggregate. Speaking after the match, Slot made it clear that a meeting with "PSG" at this stage of the competition is exactly the kind of obstacle teams should expect deep in Europe’s elite tournament.
Slot described the French champions as a side of the highest level and recalled last season’s encounters as proof of their quality. According to him, the away match against "PSG" had been extremely difficult, while the return game at "Anfield" showed just how strong both teams can be when they play with ambition and intensity. He suggested that reaching the latter rounds of the Champions League almost guarantees a showdown with opponents of this caliber.
The "Liverpool" manager also used the occasion to praise his own side’s display against "Galatasaray", calling it an ideal performance. He said the result was important, but what pleased him even more was the level of football his players produced. Slot noted that the performance reminded him of the standard his team had reached against "PSG" previously, something he believes should give the squad real confidence before the next round.
Looking back on that earlier clash with the Paris club, Slot said it remained the best match of his coaching career in terms of the quality of football rather than the final score. In his view, both teams played positively, tried to entertain the crowd and showed what top-level football should look like. He stressed that "Liverpool" had been the only team to push "PSG" into extra time and even a penalty shootout, underlining how competitive that battle had been.
Even so, Slot warned that "PSG" have not dropped their level this season and continue to prove why they are considered one of Europe’s most dangerous teams. For that reason, he believes the quarterfinal will demand another near-perfect performance from "Liverpool". Still, the dominant win over "Galatasaray" has strengthened belief inside the squad, with Slot saying it demonstrated that his players are capable of reproducing the same high standard on the biggest stage.
