The final match of the English League Cup took place at the renowned Wembley Stadium in London. Manchester City and Arsenal faced off in the fight for the main prize.
The match ended in a convincing 2-0 victory for the Citizens. The fate of the match was decided by two goals scored by Nico O'Reilly in the second half. He scored in the 60th and 64th minutes, securing gold medals for his team.
With this result, Manchester City won the main prize of the tournament for the 9th time in their history. Now, the Manchester club is closer to the record holder, Liverpool (10 trophies), with only one trophy remaining.
In the match, Uzbekistan national team defender Abdukodir Khusanov also played in the main squad and played for the full 90 minutes. He was cautioned for a foul on Viktor Dyokeresh in the 32nd minute, but then regained full composure and showed a confident performance.
Khusanov has earned the coaches' trust through his consistent and reliable performance in recent matches. He adequately replaced the injured Ruben Dias and Mark Gehry, who was unable to participate in the tournament. In particular, he almost neutralized the opposing striker Dyokeresh throughout the entire game, preventing a threat to the goal.
Most importantly, with this victory, Abdukodir Khusanov made history as the first Uzbek footballer to win the English League Cup. This award is his first major achievement in his career in England and is expected to serve as a solid foundation for even bigger victories in the future.
