The Uzbek national team made a successful start to the FIFA Series tournament, defeating Gabon 3:1 in the first round. After the match, Tribuna.uz correspondent spoke with the national team captain Eldor Shomurodov and shared his full thoughts on the game.
"First of all, we can't say that we started the game ideally. I don't know why, but in the first half, the opponents created more chances and they had a slight advantage. In the second half, everything changed, the advantage went to us and we were lucky. The most important thing is that we won," said Shomurodov.
According to him, the players who came on the field from the reserves made important changes in the game. “This question should now be asked to the coach. They made several suggestions in the locker room, sometimes spoke harshly. As a result, there were noticeable changes in our game,” said the team captain.
Shomurodov also touched on the issue of individual actions. “The individual actions of the players in the team are encouraging. Oston Urunov’s individual actions are strong and this is his advantage. I am not dissatisfied, this is normal,” he added.
Thus, the Uzbek national team led by Fabio Cannavaro defeated Gabon through joint actions and strategic changes and made a successful start to the tournament.
