In the Madrid club “Real Madrid,” serious changes around the central defensive line are being discussed. One of the team’s young and promising defenders, Raúl Asencio, may leave the club at the end of the season. This was reported by the authoritative Spanish outlet “Diario AS.”
According to the source, the “whites” are working on rebuilding the center of defense. The club’s management plans to rely on Éder Militão and also on a new name that is being mentioned more and more often — Dean Huijsen. In addition, the question of keeping experienced Antonio Rüdiger in the team and strengthening the defensive line with another central defender is also on the agenda.
Due to this strategy, it is reported that Raúl Asencio’s chances of securing a place in the starting lineup may significantly decrease. For this reason, the club management is seriously considering the option of selling him.
It is also noted that the 23-year-old defender has not ideal relations with the team’s head coach, Álvaro Arbeloa. This circumstance may also affect his future.
Asencio extended his contract with Real Madrid last summer until 2031. However, even a long-term agreement does not guarantee his continued stay at the club. At the current moment, everything depends on the team’s transfer policy and new defensive plans.
