Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior, despite the apology of midfielder Enzo Fernández, did not include him in the squad list for the important match against Manchester City.
The coach spoke openly about the situation and confirmed that he had held several serious conversations with the player. According to him, Enzo admitted his mistake and apologized to the club and the coach.
“I had two, three, even four very productive conversations with Enzo. He apologized to me and to the club. We will discuss this situation in detail after the important match on Sunday,” Rosenior said.
At the same time, the coach noted that this situation is not just a disciplinary matter, but a serious internal issue. According to him, mistakes in football are natural, but every mistake must have consequences.
“This was a very serious discussion about a serious matter. I do not doubt Enzo’s character or personality. I trust him. But any mistake must have consequences. Punishment cannot simply be canceled,” he added.
The management of Chelsea stated that they expect a higher level of professionalism from the player in the future. The coach also expressed hope that Enzo Fernández will return to his best form.
As a reminder, the Argentine midfielder was previously temporarily removed from the squad after speaking about a possible transfer option to Real Madrid.
For now, the club’s position is clear: discipline comes first, results follow from it.
