Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Juan Musso commented on criticism of refereeing after Barcelona were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League.
As is known, the Madrid club knocked out the Catalan side from the tournament at the quarter-final stage over two legs. In the first match, Atletico Madrid won 2:0, while in the return leg they lost 1:2, but still advanced on aggregate.
After the second match, Raphinha, who did not feature due to injury, sharply criticized referee Clément Turpin’s performance, saying: “this is theft, there were many problems in refereeing.”
In response, Musso stated that the opposing team were not awarded three penalties or shown four red cards, and said that calling it “theft” was incorrect.
“I understand what Raphinha meant, anyone can express their opinion. I respect all viewpoints. But let’s not call it ‘theft’, because it changes nothing.
We won on the pitch, we beat them 2:0 away. Unfortunately, in football sometimes everything comes down to a single episode,” Musso said.
Football is full of debates, but the score stays on the scoreboard — and that reality does not change.
