FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced that for the first time in history, a musical show will be organized during halftime of the 2026 World Cup final.
The decisive match of the tournament will take place on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, USA. This final is expected to be a major event not only from a sporting perspective but also from a show-industry standpoint.
According to Infantino, a large stage performance featuring several famous artists will be held during halftime. He emphasized that this project will be the largest sports show in history:
— This will be the first show during the halftime of a World Cup final in football. I cannot reveal the names of the participants yet, but several artists will take the stage. It will be the biggest and truly fantastic show on the planet, — said the FIFA head.
As a reminder, the 2026 World Cup will be hosted by three countries: the USA, Canada, and Mexico. This format will make it the tournament with the largest geographical coverage in history.
