Lewandowski prepares to leave Barcelona as free agent

Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has explained why Robert Lewandowski would not be a suitable option for Anfield. Although the Polish forward, who is preparing to part ways with Barcelona, is available as a free agent, Owen believes the transfer would lack logic. According to him, despite the team's issues in the forward line, it is more important to strengthen other positions. Goal.com reports on the matter.
Liverpool is currently facing significant losses: Hugo Ekitike is sidelined for at least nine months due to a ruptured Achilles tendon. Additionally, the team's main star, Mohamed Salah, is expected to leave the club in the summer. Meanwhile, Swedish striker Alexander Isak is struggling to regain his form after an injury, managing to score only 3 goals in 20 matches.

Owen noted that an experienced player like Lewandowski would not agree to sit on the substitution bench. "I don't believe Lewandowski would accept that role. The team already has Isak and Ekitike, and the squad is slightly unbalanced. Bringing in another center-forward would only worsen the situation," the former footballer added.
According to reports, Lewandowski, who is approaching 38, has received offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia and the USA. Liverpool, on the other hand, is expected to focus more on finding a winger to replace Salah. Consequently, the probability of the Polish goalscorer making his debut in the English Premier League is rated as very low.
