Jose Mourinho to become Real Madrid head coach next season

The management of Real Madrid plans to definitively resolve the situation regarding the team's coaching staff in the coming months. Among numerous candidates, a specialist well-known to club president Florentino Perez has emerged as the primary contender. Goal.com reports on this matter.
According to a report by The Athletic, Jose Mourinho is expected to return to the Madrid club next summer. Perez aims to bring the 63-year-old Portuguese coach back to lead the team after a 13-year hiatus.

Although Mourinho currently has a contract with Benfica until 2025, he has left his future open. When asked whether he would remain at the Lisbon club for the 2026/27 season, he replied: "I cannot confirm that, because everything does not depend solely on me."
According to reports, the coach's contract includes a release clause amounting to 3 million euros. This sum poses no financial difficulty for Real Madrid.

The Madrid side had previously considered the candidacies of Jurgen Klopp and Didier Deschamps but received rejections. Additionally, specialists such as Lionel Scaloni and Sebastian Hoeness remain within the club's sphere of interest.
Real Madrid is currently at risk of finishing the season without a trophy. The team under Alvaro Arbeloa has been eliminated from the Copa del Rey and trails Barcelona by 11 points in the league.
Their Champions League campaign came to an end in the quarter-finals following matches against Bayern Munich.
