Marc Bernal is grateful to Hansi Flick and awaits a call-up from the Spain national team

Barcelona's young talent Marc Bernal expressed immense gratitude to coach Hansi Flick for helping him regain his form after a serious injury. The 18-year-old midfielder emphasized that the German tactician played an incomparable role in his rise as a La Liga star, stating he owes his career to him. This is reported by Goal.com reports .

Overcoming a serious knee injury from last season, Bernal has made 21 appearances for Barcelona and contributed to three goals. Having secured a regular spot in the starting XI since February in the absence of Frenkie de Jong, the teenager is now hopeful for a call-up to the Spain national team.

In an interview with Catalunya Radio, the player revealed he is not making plans for the summer break. "Of course, I want to play for the national team; it is the ultimate goal for every footballer. I haven't made any plans for the summer yet, I am waiting for the official announcement on Monday," said Marc Bernal.

The midfielder also touched upon Robert Lewandowski, who is expected to leave the club. He called the Polish striker a club legend and acknowledged his significant contribution to the consecutive league titles. After the Champions League quarter-final defeat to Atletico Madrid, Bernal expressed his ambition for greater victories next season.

Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente will announce the final squad for the World Cup on Monday. If Bernal is included in the list, he will aim to replicate the success of 2010 with "La Roja". The Spaniards will face Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia, and Uruguay in the group stage.
