Huawei Takes on Nvidia in AI Chip Market
Huawei is making significant strides in the AI industry by ramping up production of its Ascend 910C chip, which aims to compete with Nvidia’s H100, reports The Financial Times.

According to sources, Huawei has improved its manufacturing efficiency, increasing the yield rate of usable chips to 40%, up from just 20% a year ago. This advancement paves the way for mass production and a potential market launch in the near future.

The Chinese tech giant plans to produce up to 100,000 units of the Ascend 910C by the end of 2025 as part of its strategy to challenge NVIDIA’s CUDA technology in the Chinese market. Additionally, Huawei is developing its own CANN software to rival Nvidia’s offerings.

Currently, Huawei’s Ascend AI chips are already used by companies like DeepSeek, Alibaba, and Baidu, primarily for inference tasks. However, with the launch of the 910C, Huawei intends to expand the application of its technology and capture a greater share of the Chinese market, competing directly with Nvidia.
