Galaxy S25 tested with One UI 8 and Android 16, Pepelac.news reported. Samsung’s Galaxy S25 smartphone has been spotted in the Geekbench database running Android 16 along with the One UI 8.0 interface. This suggests that the development of the new UI version is progressing faster than its predecessor.
Earlier this month, Android 16 firmware was already found on Samsung’s servers for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Now, the base Galaxy S25 model has also appeared on Geekbench with Android 16, indicating that One UI 8.0 could be released sooner than One UI 7.
Last year, the first signs of Android 15 for the Galaxy S24 series appeared in May, with benchmarks surfacing in July. Samsung previously noted that One UI 7 required extensive planning due to major software changes. In contrast, One UI 8 is expected to be a lighter update and faster to develop.
Another factor in the earlier release of One UI 8 is Google’s new development model. Android 16 is now expected to launch in June, instead of August or September as in previous years.
