Full mobile games now supported in Android Auto, Pepelac.news reported. Google is testing a new feature in Android Auto version 14.1, allowing users to play full mobile games on their car’s display. The feature is currently available to beta program users and will soon roll out to the general public.

Previously, Android Auto supported only lightweight HTML5-based GameSnacks titles that required no installation. Now, users can run any games that are pre-installed on their smartphones.

Currently supported games include Candy Crush, Angry Birds, and Beach Buggy Racing. Some users have also managed to launch Farm Heroes Saga, suggesting Google is experimenting with different titles.

However, the gaming experience in Android Auto is not ideal. The performance is sluggish, touch responsiveness is poor, and cars without touchscreen displays are left out entirely.

In addition, Google has not optimized the games for vehicle use. For example, Beach Buggy Racing still relies on tilt controls, which don’t translate well to in-car entertainment systems.

At this stage, many games don’t work properly — Angry Birds fails to launch entirely. Android Auto version 14.1 is expected to release next week, but it remains unclear whether game support will remain in the final update.
