The ATR Computational Neuroscience Laboratory in Kyoto, Japan, has successfully recreated one of the most mysterious processes in the human mind - dreaming - in an official visual format. This scientific achievement has caused a huge stir on the Internet and is being hailed by many social media users as a "technology of the future."
How does it work?
The system monitors the neural activity that occurs in the brain while a person is sleeping using high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). This data is analyzed using artificial intelligence and converted into visual images - that is, it is possible to roughly determine what images are forming "inside" the brain.
Through this process, scenes, people, and even objects that a person sees in a dream can be vividly displayed on another monitor. According to the scientific team, each image matches the details of the dream that the user recounted after waking up.
Professor Kamitani: “The door to consciousness is opening”
According to the author of the project, Professor Yukiyasu Kamitani, this process will form the basis of a completely new paradigm in the study of the human mind:
“We have developed the ability to “read” dream images through brain signals. This is a major step towards the scientific and practical study of human dreams.”
Application: fantasy becomes reality
Although the technology is still in the experimental stage, experts have high hopes for its prospects. Formal recording of dreams could open up innovative avenues in psychotherapy, psychiatry, dream analysis, as well as in the creation of films and video games.
Internet reaction: surprise and interest
Comments on social networks around this news were very positive:
- “The Japanese really live in the future!”
- “Be the first to get me this device!”
- “Now I don’t have to memorize my dreams, everything is stored on the screen!”
