YouTube is changing the terms of its most affordable subscription plan — Premium Lite. Starting June 30, 2025, Premium Lite subscribers will begin seeing ads in Shorts, reports Rozetked.me.
Google notified users via email:
"Starting June 30, 2025, ads may appear in Shorts, in addition to music content and when you search or browse. Most videos will continue to remain ad-free."
The Premium Lite plan was introduced in March 2025 and costs $7.99 per month. It does not include YouTube Music and offers ad-free viewing for most videos.
The standard YouTube Premium plan in the US costs $13.99 per month. From June 30, only standard Premium subscribers will be able to watch Shorts without ads.
