Advanced Protection Mode Coming to Android 16

Advanced Protection Mode Coming to Android 16
With the release of Android 16, users will gain access to a new Advanced Protection mode—a feature designed to enhance smartphone resilience against attacks and unauthorized access, reports Rozetked.me.

When activated, Advanced Protection blocks the installation of apps outside of Google Play, disables insecure and outdated communication protocols like 2G, and requires biometric authentication or a PIN code for any security setting changes.

Additionally, the feature strengthens the filtering of calls, messages, and network connections, limiting suspicious activity and protecting against phishing. Disabling the mode is only possible after re-authentication.

Initially, the feature will be available on Pixel smartphones with Android 16 QPR1, with plans for implementation on other manufacturers' devices later on.
