YouTube to detect teens using neural networks

YouTube is introducing neural network technology to automatically detect the age of users, according to rozetked.me.

The system targets teens aged 13 to 17, aiming to limit their exposure to potentially inappropriate content.

It will use facial analysis, user behavior patterns, and other biometric indicators to estimate age.

Google says the move is part of its effort to improve child safety and deliver age-appropriate content.

With AI support, the platform will automatically filter content based on the user’s estimated age.

The feature will initially roll out in test mode, in compliance with EU and other regional regulations.
