NASA and Google are developing an AI-powered medical assistant to help maintain astronauts’ health during Mars-bound missions, TechCrunch.com reported.
The project aims to provide rapid medical advice and diagnostics in situations where access to a doctor is unavailable during long-duration space travel.
The AI system will be capable of monitoring physical conditions, detecting illnesses and injuries, and offering treatment recommendations.
It will also function offline, which is crucial given the communication delays between Mars and Earth.
NASA and Google noted that in the future, the system could also be used on Earth to improve medical care in remote areas.
