Spotify will now let free users pick and play tracks

TechCrunch reported that Spotify is now allowing free users to select and play individual tracks — a feature that was previously limited to premium accounts. This removes the long-standing restriction of shuffle-only playback.

The update is rolling out in select markets, with the goal of giving users more control and keeping Spotify competitive in the streaming landscape.

Spotify says this change is meant to attract new users while offering existing free-tier listeners more flexibility. Premium plans will continue to offer additional features.
