The new service, named "Join the chat," is designed to save customers' time. Instead of reading through long descriptions or numerous reviews, shoppers can now ask the artificial intelligence about specific product features.
The system analyzes product information and feedback from other buyers to provide answers in a natural conversational format. For example, a user can ask if a garment's fabric is itchy or if a coffee machine is suitable for beginners.
According to the company, the AI adapts the conversation based on each question and does not repeat previous answers. This experience is designed to simulate consulting with a knowledgeable salesperson in a store.
Currently, this feature is being tested within the Amazon Shopping app in the United States. Users can engage in both text and voice communication by clicking a special button located under the product image.
