Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar announced that there are no problems in cooperation with Russia regarding the construction of the country's first nuclear power plant, "Akkuyu." The project is being implemented according to plan, and the financial resources necessary for the construction of the first two power units have been fully secured. This was reported by Ixbt.com.

Currently, the launch of the station's first power unit in test mode is planned for September or October 2026. This facility, being built by Russia's "Rosatom" corporation, will include four modern power units, each with a capacity of 1200 MW.

Additionally, the Turkish government is considering the construction of a second nuclear power plant in Sinop province. Although Russia has expressed interest in participating in this project, Ankara is also studying proposals from countries such as China, South Korea, and Canada.
