SpaceX has spent more than 15 billion dollars on the development of the Starship spacecraft. This was noted in IPO documents reviewed by Reuters. Ixbt.com reports.
For comparison, the development costs for the Falcon 9 rocket amounted to approximately 400 million dollars. Starship is currently the most expensive and strategically important project for SpaceX.
Starship is a two-stage super-heavy rocket designed to launch Starlink V3 satellites into orbit, as well as to transport humans to the Moon and Mars.
In 2025, the company spent 3 billion dollars on research and development in the space segment, and all of these funds were directed toward the Starship project.
SpaceX is currently preparing for the next flight of the Starship rocket following a hiatus in October. This time, the V3 version is scheduled for testing.
