YouTube interface bug causes a single page to consume 7 GB of memory

A bug in the YouTube interface causes a single page to consume 7 GB of memory

Users of Firefox, Brave, and Microsoft Edge are facing serious issues on the YouTube platform. Videos are freezing and it has been observed that the browser consumes up to 7 gigabytes of RAM for a single tab. This was reported by Ixbt.com xabar.

Initially, this situation was linked to the fight against ad blockers. However, the problem has been recorded on various platforms as well.

According to Bugzilla Mozilla data, the error is hidden in the logic of the buttons under the video.

The system checks whether buttons such as "Like" and "Share" fit on the screen. If there is not enough space, one button is hidden.

After that, the container size changes, the button reappears, and this process repeats indefinitely.

These infinite calculations place a high load on the processor and memory. Currently, Mozilla developers are investigating the issue, but Google and YouTube have not yet provided an official comment.
