A new study conducted by Signal65 on behalf of Microsoft has shown that affordable laptops running Windows 11 can offer higher performance and battery life compared to the MacBook Neo. According to the report, devices priced $150 lower than the MacBook Neo recorded up to 56 percent better results in Procyon Office Productivity tests. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .
For comparison, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3x, HP OmniBook 5, Lenovo Yoga 7i, and HP OmniBook X Flip models were selected. The $450 Lenovo laptop runs on the Snapdragon X platform, while the HP model is powered by the Ryzen AI 7 350 processor. In Cinebench 2026 tests, these devices reportedly showed results nearly twice as high as the MacBook Neo, though the difference is smaller in other tests.
Furthermore, cheaper Windows laptops stand out with more RAM, larger SSD capacity, and support for the modern Wi-Fi 7 standard. However, the study overlooked important aspects such as screen quality, chassis materials, design, and device weight.
As experts analyze these results, they note that the Microsoft-funded study focused exclusively on performance and autonomy. Nevertheless, it has been reaffirmed that laptops on the Windows 11 platform are competitive in terms of price-to-performance ratio.
