Banning Chinese technology will cost Europe over $400 billion

The China Chamber of Commerce has analyzed the consequences if the European Union completely removes Chinese technology providers from its network infrastructure. According to the study, excluding companies like Huawei and ZTE could cost the EU over $400 billion over the next five years. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .

The European Union believes that Chinese technological components and equipment pose a high risk to critical network infrastructure. For this reason, the issue of phasing out these providers has been under discussion for several years. If this step is taken, Huawei, which has an extensive international network, would be one of the first companies to suffer.

The study shows that banning Chinese suppliers in 18 critical sectors, such as energy and telecommunications, is expected to cost the EU $432.83 billion between 2026 and 2030. The report highlights that the EU would face serious problems such as equipment replacement, asset write-offs, and a slowdown in digitalization processes.

Financial losses will also affect major European countries. Specifically, countries such as Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, and the Netherlands could each suffer losses exceeding 10 billion euros. The heaviest burden would fall on Germany, with its economy projected to lose 170.8 billion euros.
