Truecaller to lay off 70 employees

Swedish company Truecaller has announced it will cut approximately 15 percent of its staff, or 70 employees, by the second quarter of 2026. This decision follows a decline in the company's first-quarter financial performance. This is reported by Techcrunch.com reporting .
The company attributed the decline in revenue to restrictions in India's real-money gaming sector, changes in advertising algorithms by partners like Google, and the geopolitical situation in the Middle East. Specifically, net revenue in India fell by 41 percent, and advertising revenue dropped by 44 percent.
Despite this, the number of active Truecaller users has exceeded 500 million. Additionally, the company's subscription revenue grew by 27 percent. New features such as AI Assistant and Family Protection are helping to increase the appeal of paid services.
CEO Rishit Jhunjhunwala noted that last year's high performance was largely driven by advertising activity related to the cricket season in India. Although the company's stock value has fallen significantly this year, a partial recovery is being observed following the report's release.
