Amazon server overheating affects Coinbase and other companies

On Friday, May 8, Amazon Web Services largely restored its operations. An overheating incident at one of its data centers caused outages for major companies like the Coinbase cryptocurrency exchange. Amazon representatives stated that work to resolve the issue is underway, though full restoration of all systems will take several hours. This is reported by Ixbt.com .

The company rerouted some services to other regions to minimize inconvenience to customers. This failure highlighted the increasing load on modern data centers. Today, artificial intelligence systems and cloud computing consume significant energy and generate substantial heat.

To address server overheating, operators are being forced to switch to liquid and water-based cooling systems. Previously, a cooling system failure at a CyrusOne center caused similar outages for CME Group. AWS specialists stated they are working on upgrading cooling systems, but expanding infrastructure takes significant time.

Amazon also announced that it will take several more months to restore data centers affected by the war in the Middle East and return them to normal operation. This situation once again confirms how complex it is to ensure the stability of global technological infrastructure.
