Google and SpaceX are in talks to create orbital data centers

According to The Wall Street Journal, Google and SpaceX are discussing the possibility of deploying orbital data centers in space. This project is seen as part of SpaceX's strategy to reduce costs by moving AI computing power to Earth's orbit. This is reported by Techcrunch.com reports.
Elon Musk has long argued that operating orbital data centers would be cheaper than terrestrial ones. It is also noted that such solutions could avoid objections from local residents and environmental organizations opposing construction on Earth.
However, experts point out that current terrestrial data centers are much more cost-effective when considering the costs of building and launching satellites. Nevertheless, Google plans to launch prototype satellites by 2027 as part of its Project Suncatcher initiative.
For reference, Google invested $900 million in SpaceX in 2015. Currently, Google is also exploring partnership opportunities with other rocket manufacturers.
