Notion transforms its workspace into a hub for AI agents

Productivity software developer Notion is stepping into the era of agents. The company has introduced its new developer platform, which expands the capabilities of AI agents, allowing them to connect with external systems and create automated multi-step workflows. Notion is no longer just a notes app, but a central hub where humans and AI agents collaborate across various databases. This is reported by Techcrunch.com reports .
The Custom Agents feature, launched in February, has been helping users perform repetitive tasks. However, their ability to work with external data was limited. Notion CEO Ivan Zhao noted that although the company has not historically been developer-focused, this is now changing.
Through the new Workers feature, teams can run their own custom code in the Notion cloud environment. This secure sandbox environment allows for syncing data with Notion, creating custom tools, and managing automated processes using webhooks. AI assistants like ChatGPT can be used to write the code.
The Notion Developer Platform also provides the ability to sync external data sources. With the power of Workers, data from platforms like Salesforce, Zendesk, or Postgres can be pulled directly into Notion databases and kept constantly updated. The company is offering this service for free until August for developers to experiment.
