Satellite internet to be implemented on Russian high-speed trains

Plans are underway to introduce satellite internet on Russia's Sapsan and Lastochka high-speed trains. The project is being implemented by Bureau 1440 in partnership with Russian Railways and has now entered the practical preparation phase. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .
The new technology is based on low-Earth orbit satellites and is expected to provide stable, low-latency internet connectivity even on high-speed trains. Tests conducted in specialized laboratory carriages confirmed the equipment's effective performance under vibration and various weather conditions.
According to Alexey Shelobkov, CEO of ICS Holding and Bureau 1440, a total of 135 trains will be equipped under the project. The internet service will be launched on popular routes such as Moscow — Saint Petersburg, Moscow — Nizhny Novgorod, Krasnodar — Sochi, and Moscow — Minsk.
Broadband data transmission systems are scheduled to be tested on passenger trains by the end of 2026. In the future, this system will be fully integrated into the trains' design and digital infrastructure. Experts emphasize that this system is a unique solution, distinct from SpaceX's Starlink project.
