Cognition startup raises $1 billion at a $25 billion valuation

Cognition, the creator of the world-renowned autonomous AI engineer Devin, announced on Wednesday that it has raised over $1 billion in funding at a $25 billion pre-money valuation. This marks a massive leap for the company, which was valued at $10.2 billion just eight months ago following a $400 million funding round in September. This is reported by Techcrunch.com .

This investment round was led by Lux Capital and General Catalyst. New partners such as Ribbit Capital, Atreides, and Layer Global also joined the project, alongside existing investors like Founders Fund and 8VC. This is a sign of high confidence from major venture capital firms in the future of independent AI programming startups.

Last year, market analysts predicted that projects like Anthropic's Claude Code, OpenAI's Codex, and Google's Jules would dominate the sector. However, Cognition managed to maintain its independent position and even acquired the remaining parts of the Windsurf project last year.

Currently, the company is partnering with major corporations such as Mercedes-Benz, NASA, Goldman Sachs, and Santander. It is reported that corporate usage of the Devin platform has been growing by 50 percent month-over-month for the last six months, and the company's annual revenue has reached $492 million.
