Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket explodes during testing

The New Glenn mega-rocket, owned by Jeff Bezos's Blue Origin, exploded during tests at Cape Canaveral, Florida. According to NASASpaceFlight.com's live stream, the incident occurred during a static fire test ahead of the fourth flight scheduled for the coming weeks. This was reported by Techcrunch.com reporting states.

Rocket companies typically clear launch pads during tests for safety, but there is currently no confirmed information regarding injuries. Blue Origin, NASA, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the US Space Force have not yet provided an official statement.

This explosion may force Blue Origin to suspend the New Glenn program for an extended period. The company had planned up to 12 launches this year using the rocket, which has been in development for a decade to compete with Elon Musk's SpaceX.

The rocket was also expected to play a key role in NASA's Artemis lunar missions. Shortly after the explosion, Elon Musk commented on his X social media page: "Very sad. Rocket science is hard."

Recall that a few weeks ago, the third flight of the New Glenn rocket also ended in failure. At that time, the rocket's upper stage failed to deploy the AST SpaceMobile satellite into orbit, and the mission was considered a total loss. The FAA had only authorized the resumption of flights last week after investigating the causes of that failure.
