Plans to adapt the Soyuz-5 rocket for crewed flights

Kazakhstan is considering the possibility of using the new Soyuz-5 launch vehicle for future crewed space missions. This was announced by the head of the Baikonur administration, Konstantin Busygin, in an interview with TASS. This is reported by Ixbt.com .
According to him, the Kazakh side has initiated the adaptation of the Soyuz-5 rocket for crewed flights. However, for now, this issue is viewed only as a long-term prospect, and no specific deadlines for the project's implementation have been set.
Busygin emphasized that the implementation of the Baiterek project and the creation of the new rocket have significantly strengthened cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan. This project has become a key factor in developing partnership relations in the space sector.
The first test flight of the Soyuz-5 rocket took place on April 30 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. The rocket successfully completed its flight program and has a payload capacity of up to 17 tons.
For reference, the Baiterek project has been underway since 2004. It aims to create a new space rocket complex at the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
