On February 3, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on the work being done to ensure employment and attract investments.
It was noted that this year it is planned to provide employment to 5 million 200 thousand people, lift 1.5 million people out of poverty, attract $ 42 billion in foreign investment, and increase exports by $ 30 billion. The meeting was informed about the work started in this regard and the initial results.
It was noted that in January 277 thousand citizens were employed. Of these, 91 thousand were permanently employed, 153 thousand were involved in entrepreneurship.
New approaches to poverty reduction are being introduced in 32 areas. Recently, groups of specialists from ministries and khokimiyats visited China and exchanged experiences. Now the opportunities in the regions will be explained to the population and help them earn income.
Jobs and investment are interconnected. This year, it is planned to implement 8 thousand projects worth about $ 14 billion and create 272 thousand permanent jobs.
According to preliminary estimates, last month Uzbekistan received $ 3 billion in foreign investment. It is planned to bring the same amount of investment in February and launch 623 projects. The meeting emphasized the need to work on projects in a targeted manner and sharply increase the pace.
