The President of Uzbekistan visited Slovenia for the first time
Today, an official welcoming ceremony was held at Congress Square in Ljubljana for the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who arrived in Slovenia on an official visit.

The head of our state was warmly welcomed by the President of Slovenia, Natasa Pirc Musar. A guard of honor was formed in honor of the distinguished guest. The military orchestra performed the national anthems of Uzbekistan and Slovenia.


The leaders of the two countries walked past the guard of honor and greeted members of the official delegations.

After the official ceremony, flowers were laid at the Monument to the Victims of All Wars in the Zvezda Park as a symbol of respect for the memory of the victims of war and loyalty to the ideals of peace and humanity.

The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Slovenia Natasa Pirz Musar held talks in a narrow circle and with the participation of official delegations at the Presidential Palace in Ljubljana.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Head of State expressed gratitude to the Slovenian leader for the warm welcome and noted that the high-level events held for the first time in the last 20 years will go down in history as the beginning of a new stage in the relations of the two countries.

The urgent issues of further development of practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Slovenia were considered.

The intensification of political dialogue, contacts at various levels and business meetings was noted with satisfaction. The two countries support each other within the framework of the UN and other international organizations.

In recent years, trade turnover has increased threefold. Exchanges in the fields of culture and tourism are expanding. A visa-free regime has been introduced in Uzbekistan for Slovenian citizens.

The importance of establishing regular dialogue at the highest and highest levels was emphasized in order to give a systemic character to bilateral relations.

Particular attention was paid to increasing trade turnover and bringing its volume to 500 million euros in the first stage, primarily by expanding the range of products and replacing imports.

These include the supply of textiles, fruits and vegetables, mineral fertilizers, copper products and other industrial goods from Uzbekistan, and medicines, advanced technologies and equipment from Slovenia.

The possibilities of using the potential of the Slovenian port of Koper as a logistics hub for entering the European Union market will be studied.

Agreements were reached with leading Slovenian companies on the adoption of an Industrial Cooperation Program, as well as the implementation of projects for the production of modern equipment, industrial and agricultural products, the localization of pharmaceutical products, including honey and medicinal herb-based medicines, and the construction and modernization of energy facilities.

It was agreed to prepare an Agreement on Organized Labor Migration with the development of training and adaptation programs in language, professional skills and labor standards for systematic cooperation in the field of labor migration.

The development of tourism, especially in rural and mountainous areas, was identified as a promising direction. In the field of education, the parties agreed to sign an agreement on mutual recognition of diplomas and establish joint educational programs with the universities of Ljubljana and Maribor.

In addition, next year, a Youth Innovation Projects Forum will be held in Tashkent with the participation of higher educational institutions and scientific centers of the two countries.

In order to strengthen humanitarian exchanges, the parties put forward the initiative to hold mutual cultural days and a week of Uzbek cinema in Ljubljana.

In order to ensure the implementation of all the tasks set, it was decided to hold the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission in Ljubljana in July of this year.

At the end of the meeting, the Head of State invited Slovenian President Natasa Pirz Musar to pay a return visit to Uzbekistan at a convenient time.
