As part of his visit to Ljubljana, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in a joint business forum with the President of the Republic of Slovenia Natasa Pirz Musar.

The event was attended by more than 100 heads and representatives of leading industrial and trade enterprises of the two countries.

The Slovenian delegation consisted of companies such as “KRKA”, “Duol”, “Emo Frite”, “Panvita”, “Medex”, “Tajfun Planina”, “Altado”, “UVC Solutions”, “Riko” and many others.

In his speech, the Head of State noted that today's productive negotiations at the highest level have opened a new page in Uzbek-Slovenian relations, primarily in the trade, economic and investment spheres.

It was noted that in the current difficult period in the global economy, it is important to use existing opportunities to increase mutual trade, expand the scope of cooperation and diversify national economies.

The task was set to increase the volume of mutual trade to 500 million euros in the coming years by increasing the range and volume of mutual goods supplies, including textiles and fruit and vegetable products, mineral fertilizers, copper, pharmaceutical products, technological equipment and other goods with high added value.

The importance of adopting a program for the development of industrial cooperation in sectors where the economies of the two countries can complement each other was noted.

The President of Uzbekistan outlined important areas for further development of economic partnership. These include the localization of pharmaceutical production, the production of electrical equipment, food products, storage and processing of fruits and vegetables, and the construction and modernization of "green" energy facilities.

Particular attention was paid to the development of transport interconnection, including through the use of the capabilities of the Slovenian port of Koper and the establishment of direct air flights between the two countries.

It was noted that the visa-free regime introduced in Uzbekistan for Slovenian citizens will serve to develop business, humanitarian and tourism exchanges.

The leader of Uzbekistan drew the attention of the meeting participants to the special industrial park being created in our country for European companies. He invited Slovenian companies to become the first residents of this special zone.

The head of our state highly appreciated the fact that the Slovenian business community expressed interest in developing mutually beneficial partnership with Uzbekistan and put forward specific proposals and plans.

Finally, a ceremony of exchanging bilateral trade, economic and investment agreements was held at the Presidents' residence.
