
A meeting was held at the Cabinet of Ministers between the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, and the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Daren Tang. This was reported by the Prime Minister's press service.
Daren Tang expressed his gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, for the special attention given to ensuring the reliable legal protection of intellectual property objects in the country.
In turn, it was noted that WIPO continues to support the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan to reform and improve the intellectual property sector and to strengthen legal protection.
During the meeting, discussions were held on joint implementation of the draft strategy for the development of the intellectual property sector in Uzbekistan for 2026–2030, on improving the qualifications of specialists working in the field, and on the development and implementation of a joint master's program of WIPO based on the intellectual property master’s program at Tashkent State University of Law.
In addition, issues were discussed regarding the active involvement of Uzbek representatives in the WIPO Green program in the areas of green economy, climate change, and food security, as well as the implementation of a joint program to protect intellectual property rights for agricultural products grown in the country.
