The State Committee on Statistics of Uzbekistan has published important figures for January–July of this year. According to the information, in the last seven months a total of 6 million 319.1 thousand foreign citizens visited the country. Compared to the same period last year, this figure increased by almost 2.1 million people, which means a growth of 48.9 percent.
Looking at the composition of visitors, the main share falls on neighboring countries. In particular:

from the Kyrgyz Republic — more than 1 million 846 thousand people;

from Kazakhstan — over 1 million 466 thousand;

from Tajikistan — 1 million 441 thousand people;

from Russia — more than 536 thousand;
-
from Afghanistan — 267 thousand people;
-
from Turkmenistan — over 208 thousand visitors.
In addition, 103 thousand came from China, 96 thousand from Turkey, 38 thousand from India, and more than 25 thousand from the Republic of Korea. The share of other countries amounted to about 289 thousand people.
According to the purposes of visit, an interesting picture has also formed. The largest part — 4 million 338 thousand people came to visit relatives. At the same time, almost 949 thousand people chose Uzbekistan purely for tourism. In addition:

for business trips — more than 710 thousand people;

for trade purposes — over 255 thousand;

for treatment — 54 thousand people;
-
for study — more than 10 thousand visitors.
According to officials, the tourism sector in Uzbekistan is expanding year by year, and the country is increasingly attracting foreign tourists at the international level. This contributes not only to economic development but also to a significant improvement of the state’s image.
