King of Jordan viewed Samarkand’s historical monuments with Shavkat Mirziyoyev

King of Jordan Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein, accompanied by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, visited the majestic historical monuments of the ancient city of Samarkand.

The heads of state first visited the Shakhi Zinda complex. It is noted that here are located the mausoleums of Qusam ibn Abbas, one of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad, and other figures. The historical, cultural, and artistic significance of the complex lies in the fact that it reflects the development of architecture and decorative art over several centuries. In 2001, Shakhi Zinda was included in the UNESCO World Heritage list.

The King of Jordan paid respects to the memory of Qusam ibn Abbas. Verses from the Quran were recited.

During the visit to Amir Temur’s mausoleum, the Jordanian delegation was told about his state policy, military skills, and diplomatic relations with various countries. It was emphasized that the life and activity of the Sahibkiran, whose state was one of the largest of its time, left a strong impression on the guests.

The heads of state also visited the Registan ensemble, which consists of the Mirzo Ulugbek, Sherdor, and Tilla-Kari madrasahs. For centuries, these monuments served as a center of science, producing hundreds of scholars and researchers. Thanks to its harmony and unique placement, Registan is rightly considered the “calling card” of Samarkand.

During the tour, the distinguished guest was given information about the history of the construction of these structures, the distinctive features of their ornaments, and the restoration works carried out on the square.
