The President addressed the people at the festive event dedicated to the 34th anniversary of Independence

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev delivered a speech at the festive event dedicated to the 34th anniversary of state independence in the "New Uzbekistan" park.

The Head of State congratulated the multinational people and compatriots abroad on Independence Day.

The idea of New Uzbekistan, based on the noble principle "For human dignity, for human happiness," has become a powerful movement in practice. Despite the difficult situation in the world, the steady growth of our economy at a rate of more than 6 percent indicates that our people are confidently following the path they have chosen. The population of our country increases by an average of 700-800 thousand people per year. 500-600 thousand young people enter the labor market annually. Training so many people, providing them with vocational training, and finding them jobs doesn't happen by itself. For this, a constantly functioning system, guaranteed investment, and infrastructure are needed. "Thinking deeply about this in advance, we have adopted specific programs in this direction," the president said.

The Head of State noted that in New Uzbekistan, entrepreneurship has become a major driving force of the economy.

"Thousands of modern enterprises and socio-economic infrastructure facilities are being built before the eyes of our people. Note that this year, with a total investment of 35 billion dollars, about 9 thousand new enterprises and service complexes will be built. On the eve of our greatest holiday, 79 large facilities worth 4 billion dollars were commissioned. Over the past period, the number of small and medium-sized businesses has doubled. Today, more than 10 million people work and earn income in this sector. At the beginning of the year, we set a high target of ensuring the employment of 5.5 million people. In just eight months, we managed to fulfill the 5 million plan. "Most importantly, believing in our reforms, 700 thousand of our citizens who worked abroad this year returned to our country, to their families," the president said.

"Another goal is to support honestly working entrepreneurs and expand opportunities for them. Therefore, based on the slogan "Honest work is the key to a peaceful life and a prosperous society," we are implementing important measures to curb the shadow economy," the president said.
