The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, will make an official visit to the People’s Republic of China from August 30 to September 3 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. This was reported by the press service of the Uzbek leader.
It is noted that Mirziyoyev will participate on August 31 and September 1 in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of State meeting in Tianjin and the “SCO Plus” format summit. The agenda of these events will include pressing issues of expanding multilateral cooperation among the organization’s members and further improving the activities of the SCO.
At the end of the events, the Tianjin Declaration is planned to be adopted, as well as the signing of joint documents and decisions aimed at strengthening cooperation in security, digital economy, “green” industry, energy, tourism, and other priority areas. This process will contribute to further development of strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the SCO countries.
On September 2, Mirziyoyev will hold bilateral talks with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Beijing. He will also meet with Chinese officials and heads of leading companies to discuss expanding practical cooperation and investment projects between Uzbekistan and China.
On September 3, the President will participate in ceremonial events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in World War II. According to the official Chinese news agency Xinhua, the celebrations in Beijing will be attended by leaders of 26 countries and governments.
The first foreign leader to visit China will be Russian President Vladimir Putin, and the second will be the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un. In addition, heads of state and government from Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Nepal, the Maldives, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Iran, Republic of Congo, Zimbabwe, Serbia, Slovakia, Cuba, and Myanmar will also participate in the celebrations.
This visit gives Uzbekistan an opportunity not only to strengthen strategic partnership but also to expand diplomatic and investment opportunities on the regional and global stage. In particular, Mirziyoyev’s participation in the SCO summit and the parade in Beijing will contribute to further enhancing the country’s international prestige.
