Another new reform is being introduced in the field of education in Uzbekistan. As kursiv.media reported, during a video selector meeting held by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on September 9, it was announced that now talented young people who graduate from school with high grades will be directly admitted to the 2nd year of certain higher educational institutions.
What does the new system mean?
Previously, students would enter the 1st year of university after school and then continue their studies step by step. Through the new reform, however, school graduates with high knowledge and experience will be able to save time and start studying directly from the 2nd year. This primarily serves to support talented youth and to realize their potential in practice.
New schools and their role
As the President emphasized, in order to create special opportunities for talented students, a number of branch schools will be established. In particular:
in the field of information technology – Al-Khwarizmi schools,
in engineering – Mirzo Ulugbek schools,
in natural sciences – Ibn Sina schools.
Interestingly, these schools will be directly affiliated with technical universities in the regions. As a result, the step of students entering higher education will become more systematic and targeted.
International Olympiads – in Uzbekistan
Another piece of news is that in 2026, for the first time among Central Asian countries, Uzbekistan will host two of the most prestigious international Olympiads among schoolchildren – in chemistry and informatics.
The task of holding these Olympiads at a high level in the capital Tashkent has been assigned to the Prime Minister. This is expected not only to increase Uzbekistan’s international prestige but also to serve as a great incentive for local youth.
